The original story, A Prayer for Owen Meany, was written by John Irving, who is also known for The World According to Garp. The original story was very moving. But as this is not a book review, I believe that the movie will just not work right. The story is a big gamble for a movie audience. The protagonist is an undersized boy with a squeaky voice. If they can successfully show the whole timeline of Simon's life in the movie, I will rate it much higher that the expected 13. They will also need to get Simon's voice very childlike in his adult years. Bring your handkerchief. If this movie works, you'll need it to wipe away the tears. But if it bombs, you'll need it to mask the retching noises. {BB}
