Stepford Wives, The [14] -2004-

The original 1975 Stepford Wives movie still lives on in the common slang. Any person a little too perfect is a "Stepford".

The original movie was some sci-fi, some horror, and a send-up of upper middle class suburbia. I am not sure what could be accomplished with a remake other than more CGI and better special effects. The 1975 version had some fairly well-known actors and the material was fresh from the 1972 Ira Levin book of the same name. In the early 70's this could have passed for a feminist backlash to "put women back in the kitchen". But now I really do not understand what the motivation is. Maybe a male power thing.

Anyway, watch the original. Then watch this another night on DVD. Save your cash for Spiderman 2. {BB}
