    Thunderbirds [18] -2004-

    Expectation Reviews
    The original Thunderbirds show and its predecessor Fireball XL5 were not very appealing to me because of the "supermarionation" style. I would have preferred cartoon drawings instead of "puppets". I did really like the futuristic spaceship and building designs. However, the plots were weak and the effects were low budget.

    In the real life 21st century we now have to ability to visualize much of the science fiction from the 20th century due to advances in Computer Generated Imagery (CGI).

    So this week we can talk about a live action Thunderbirds with cool spaceships, buildings, and explosions. So now two of my complaints are answered with a big budget. I still expect the acting to be "wooden" not because of poor acting ability, but that it is the style of the stories. The plot is still weak. But hey, who wouldn't want to be a super-rich ex-astronaut do-gooder that lives on a secret island with 5 cool kids?

    This is a matinee if you simply must see it in the theater. I will not. Instead DVD rental will cover it for me. {BB}
