Bean [18]

Like Dave Allen, what can Rowan Atkinson do with a 10 minutes sketch? Bean is hilarious in 5 to 10 minutes (silent minutes I might add) easily digestible chunks, but what about 90 minutes and has to have a voice? Only Monty Python seems to have breached the movie barrier from British TV comedy to USA Movie Hit. And their best ones are not even the sketch montages, but the "theme" movies (e.g. Life of Brian or Search of the Holy Grail.)

I love Rowan Atkinson. I think that British comedy is a riot. If you don't, then you won't like Mr. Bean. If your date does not like British comedy, don't take her. Don't say I didn't warn you. {AB}
