History of Violence, A [15]
A History of Violence" stars Viggo Mortensen as a pillar of a small town community who runs a diner and lives a happy and quiet life with his wife (Maria Bello) and two children. But their lives are forever changed when Mortensen thwarts an attempted robbery and is lauded as a hero by the media, attracting the attention of some mobsters (William Hurt and Ed Harris) who believe he is someone else.
I saw the previews and I got the impression that Tom Stall, the diner owner (Mortensen), was actually unaware of who is. It seemed to go along the same lines as "The Bourne Identity", which was a great book and a good movie. Although, given some of the other advance publicity, it would seem that Tom is fully aware that he is Joey Cusack and is hiding out. Ed Harris plays Carl Fogarty, a somewhat evil guy who is out to unmaske Stall/Cusack. The movie advance says that they are mobsters, but they seem more like CIA, KGB, or "Smersh" operatives. (Maybe even KAOS in memory of Don Adams who passed away yesterday...)
It appears that there is plenty of violence and drug use, and maybe not such a happy ending. So I am rating this middle of the pack as I cannot tell if this movie will give me much satisfaction. {BB}
