    Flubber [17] -1997-

    Expectation Reviews
    I just read that John Hughes was responsible (producer) for this movie. This caused a major disappointment and eventual downgrade of my expectations. Although Robin Williams really needs a hit after the Father's Day disaster, John Hughes is gonna screw this up. Disney maybe enamoured with him - but I am wondering when he is going to do something original again. Since John Hughes has stolen from himself the last time (101 Dalmatians was just Home Alone for dogs.) he is now stealing from the classic Absent-Minded Professor. Fred McMurry WAS Mr. Flubber. Can Robin fill the flubberized shoes? Or will Hughes turn this into Home Alone in the Flubber Lab? Robin has the charisma and the charm to pull this off, but a re-hash of fumbling crooks mixed in with flubbermania will kill this movie. This still will be a date film and still a film you can bring kids, but don't expect much. {AB}
