    Great Expectations [18] -1998-

    Expectation Reviews
    Ethan Hawke does Charles Dickens. It is Aladdin set in current (1998) New York City upper society. Poor boy needs to be rich boy in order to get rich girl. The book is a slow but a great read. The movie will need to vibrate with plot or it is gonna fall flat. Hey, they can't sink New York City in the last 15 minutes in order to save the movie. If you think you haven't seen enough of Ethan Hawke, you will have your fill over the next three years. If you like decent adaptations of classic books go check this out. It will be a great date film. This will not, I repeat, NOT be a buddy film. {AB}
