    Last Man Standing [22] -1996-

    Expectation Reviews
    At first glance this LAST MAN STANDING seemed nothing more than a continuation of the Bruce Willis action movie formula (Die Hard I, II, III ) to which I throw in Wesley Snipes' Passenger 57 (Die High), and Steven Seagal's Under Siege (Die at SEA). Then I looked again and said wait a minute, Bad guys on the left, Bad guys on the right and Bruce smack in the middle? Sounds alot like Clint Eastwood's Spaghetti western A FIST FULL OF DOLLARS directed by Sergio Leone which was merely a modern western interpretation of an Akira Kurosawa film USAGI YO JIMBO! Then I saw the teaser a second time and had my suspicions confirmed. There amidst all the credits it said based on a story by Akira Kurosawa.

    Premise: Essentially what we have here (I will assume) is two rival gangster mobs who want to control the town. To do so means to kill off the rival mob. Problem is both mobs are pretty equal and end up destroying more town than each other. Enter Bruce Willis, an opportunist who exploits both sides for cash. Eventually saving the town by cleansing out the mobs entirely. Everybody who really deserves it gets it in the end. Hand delivered by Bruce Wilis via a quick witicism and a .45 slug

    Anticipated Rating: 22 :I anticipate this film will do pretty well. For those who like action flicks this is your stuff. The story is simple and its predecessors are well liked in cult circles. Ok, it won't win any oscars but there will be plenty of shooting and oh yes, Christopher Walken (Mr. Creepy himself) spraying lead from a tommy gun mad as hell (worth 20 points on its own!). I like these two actors and expect to get plenty of bang for my entertainment buck!! {JB}
