One of My co-workers is an anti-caffeine militant. But, she has migraine headaches that she treats with Excedrin. One of the main ingedients in Excedrin is caffeine! She is also a consumer of chocolate, which also contains caffeine. The joke is on her since by taking her pain medication, she actually consumes as much caffeine as in a cup of coffee.
Here are some caffeine dosages for commonly consumed items in our office.
Diet Coke 12oz - 45mg
Diet Coke with lime 12oz - 45mg
Coca Cola Classic 12oz - 34mg
Diet mountain Dew 12oz - 55mg
Cup coffee 7oz - 80-135mg
Chocolate bar, Cadbury -- 1 oz (28 g) 15mg
Hershey's miniature - 8.6 grams of chocolate, approx. 4mg of caffeine.)
Exedrin 1 tablet - 65mg
(2 tablets is the adult dosage! )
A few times in my life I have had the symptoms that people describe with migraine headaches. Typically rest and ibuprofen have helped me.
Interestingly, Excedrin only comes in Extra Strength. There is no regular strength excedrin. I guess this to be because Exedrin contains both 250mg of acetaminophen and 250mg of aspirin. Although regular strength Tylenol has 325mg of acetaminophen and extra strength Tylenol has 500mg of acetaminophen
