Here is how to get rid of the 11:00pm administrator scan for Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition (CE) 7.5/7.6/7.x. It took a lot of hunting since this is not really documented on the Norton manual or help site.

Go to your Windows XP Start Menu --> Run…

When the box pops up that says “type the name of a program”, type “regedit” which is short for registry editor. The registry is the Windows XP configuration file. It is quite lengthy and is divided into folders.

    Go to the folder called:

    My Computer
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
    \SOFTWARE
    \Intel\LANDesk
    \VirusProtect6
    \CurrentVersion
    \LocalScans

You are going to delete a folder called:

    ClientServerScheduledScan_1

If you want to save a copy of it before you delete it, you can right click and select “export”. This will allow you to save it as a reg file. The reg file can be imported or double clicked to re-add that “registry key” as it is called.

Once you delete ClientServerScheduledScan_1, you can double click the shield icon in your system tray in the lower right hand corner. If you do Viewà Scheduled scans, it should be empty.

You can then schedule your own scan or plan to scan manually.

Make Sure you get your latest updates:
I would recommend going to the Symantec web site and getting the update exe file. Here it is.

    http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/download/pages/US-N95.html

Download the file called YYYYMMDD-###-###.exe today’s is 20040622-006-i32.exe

You can run it to update the virus definitions.
