When you run an Active Server Page migrated to IIS 6.0, you may encounter this error with a page that worked fine on IIS 5.0:

    Quote:
    Response object error 'ASP 0251 : 80004005'

    Response Buffer Limit Exceeded

    /yourapp/yourpage.asp, line 0

Execution of the ASP page caused the Response Buffer to exceed its configured limit

In Internet Information Server 6.0, the default setting for AspBufferingLimit is 4194304 ( or 4 MB)

Change the "AspBufferingLimit" in the MetaBase.xml file.
It should be in your Windows 2003 system folder- C:\Windows\system32\inetsrv\

You do not need to stop IIS Admin Service. But you must enable metabase editing while running if you want to keep the web server up.

Open the file in a text editor/Notepad,
    search for "AspBufferingLimit"

The primary one can be found in section-
    <IIsWebService Location ="/LM/W3SVC"

    change line-
    AspBufferingLimit="4194304"
    (which is 4Mb)
    to:
    8Mb - 8388608
    12Mb - 12582912
    16Mb - 16777216
    And so forth.

If you enabled Metabase Editing while running, it should take effect within 60 seconds.

I installed the IIS 6.0 resource kit onto my web server. It comes with a helpful tool called the Metabase editor. It is designed specifically to read the Metabase XML file using its template file. These tools can also run on Windows XP. I highly recommend doing it this way instead of direct text editing.

Another recommendation is that you create separate Application Pools in IIS 6 for all of your old ASP programs.
