I ran into a problem with a legacy desktop installation that was not working correctly. There was a Wise installer package which was an SMS repackaging of a Visual Basic application. The supporters and contacts were long gone, but a user needed the app on a new Windows XP Pro box.
The E_WISE program is very clever. You run it from the command line
Code:
e_wise_w yourpackage.exe destinationdirectory
It pulls the individual files from the package. It then supplies a BAT file to rename the files and move them to their original package directories. NEAT!
Zip versions (instead of ARJ versions) of the E_WISE programs can be found at the Programmers Tools Reverse Engineering Web Site (very useful in its own right.)
