    AWSTATS is a Web site statistical analyzer that is freely available to download and use. It works with Apache and IIS.

    http://awstats.sourceforge.net/

    For Internet Information Services, download and run the install (.exe)

    Then check out the installation guide. It has very specific instructions for IIS 5 and IIS 6

    http://awstats.sourceforge.net/docs/awstats_setup.html

    Follow the Setup for Microsoft's IIS server

    The config changes, if needed are covered in that section for the IIS log config as well as the awstats.{yourservername}.conf file you will create. Here is a list of changes from the awstats.model.conf file I used:

    Code:
    LogFile="C:/WINDOWS/system32/LogFiles/W3SVC1/ex%YY-24%MM-24%DD-24.log"

    LogFormat = "%time2 %method %url %logname %host %other %ua %referer %code %bytesd"

    SiteDomain="{yourservername}"

    HostAliases="localhost {yourservername} 127.0.0.1 REGEX[myserver\.com$]localhost"

    DNSLookup=1  # Fully enabled

    ValidHTTPCodes="200 304 003 302" # 302 is redirect, I had a CGI DLL that returned 003

    AuthenticatedUsersNotCaseSensitive=1

    URLNotCaseSensitive=1

    URLWithQuery=1  # get extended URL after ?

    ShowAuthenticatedUsers=1

    LoadPlugin="tooltips"

    LoadPlugin="userinfo"

    LoadPlugin="timezone -6"  # USA Central Time

    I installed on our D:\Program Files, but you can put it anywhere. You will need Activestate PERL installed on the web server too.

    I then set up a batch job to run every night to compute the statistics

    Code:
    for /F "tokens=1-4 delims=/- " %%A in ('date/T') do set DATE=%%D%%B%%C

    set SHORTDATE=%DATE:~2,8%

    D:

    cd \Program Files\awstats-6.2\wwwroot\cgi-bin

    "C:\usr\bin\perl.exe" awstats.pl -config={yourservername} -update -logfile=C:\WINDOWS\system32\LogFiles\W3SVC1\ex%SHORTDATE%.log

    "C:\usr\bin\perl.exe" awstats_buildstaticpages.pl -config={yourservername}
