The first thing I can tell you is that you need to be running Windows 2003 to run IISAdmin for IIS 6.0. The 5.0 admin tool can connect to 6.0, but many of the features will be missing. There are some admin tools usable on Windows XP Pro SP1, which are shipped on the Windows 2003 CD. These tools cannot be installed on Windows 2000.

Application Pools allow you to separate multiple web applications on an single Ineternet Information Services 6.0 web server. They all run a separate w3wp.exe process in task manager.
Along with Windows Server 2003 and Internet Information Services 6.0 came a large number of benefits. For us IIS admins, it was a great welcome set of changes. But, one apparent difficultly is matching up the w3wp.exe processes displayed in Task Manager to the Application Pools in IIS.

IISApp.vbs lists all the applications, their process Identification number (PID) and their Application Pool name.
The script is loaded in systemroot\system32 on Windows Server 2003 so simply go to your Command Prompt and type in

(the .vbs is optional) and you will have an instant list of all the App Pool information. You may need to type
