Say that you have an app has a known problem where it cannot be used with Remote desktop/Terminal Services.
So normally you would look to console remote control app like Dameware, VNC, or pcAnywhere to run the app. Typical examples are applications that only work on a logged in (but always locked) console.
For console level access to Windows 2003 Servers we have been using the Remote Desktop Connection client that comes with Windows XP.
I have downloaded the remote desktop latest and greatest (5.1.2600.2180) from Microsoft and I am able to open a cmd window and type "mstsc.exe /console" and get to the computer. If that will let us actually control the console instead of creating a terminal services session with its own memory space and registry hive, then I am all for it.
