Simon Birch [21]

There is not a dry eye in the house at the end. Bring your handkerchiefs. Simon's character has the same appeal to us as Stone and Parkers _South_Park_ kids. Simon says what is on his mind without deciding who would be offended. In Simon's mind, he is offended by other people's morals and attitudes. He lets all of the adults know where he stands. You have to admire him. Simon Birch speaks to all of us little people in society.

The characters are essentially those from A Prayer For Owen Meany. And the liberties taken were excusable because there just was not enough time. If you liked the movie, read the book. The book is more powerful and deeper. But as always, how much can you do in 102 minutes? I did not expect much (13) out of this movie, but I think it delivered as best it could within the time frame. Bring your best mushy date. [BB]
