    This is "Die Hard in Brazil". Bruce Willis enters the weird conceptual world of Terry Gilliam and gets caught up in going back in time to try to prevent the spread of a world-destroying viral infection. The concept of another plague is a real fear. Whether or not it is a laboratory concotion or a wild mutation, a population slaying disease (a la Spanish Influenza or Black Death) could be in the world's future. The movie attempts to capitalize on the fear, but also show that it will not mean the end of the human race, just a plunge into anarchy.

    I like Terry Gilliam's ideas. I like Bruce Willis' acting. I even liked Brad Pitt's bit-acting parts. Otherwise, the movie did not do much for me. It was a good bit of hard science fiction. {BB}
