Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, The [15] -1979-
If J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit could make it to TV from Rankin Bass, then so could The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe from C.S. Lewis. This was my introduction to the book series. The TV show was directed by Bill Melendez, who also brought the Charlie Brown specials to the TV screen. For some reason, I have always held this show in higher esteem than The Hobbit show. Probably because the voicing made more sense, and the music was not as corny.
There never really were any more attempts to make the other books, as this story stands on its own. Although, Aslan the Lion appears in the other books in the series. Essentially the story is well known. The power of darkness holds sway. It is fortold that one will come that will break the power. Men (sons of Adam and Daughters of Eve) will aid the new savior. The savior (Aslan) is sacrificed, but is reborn, thus breaking the power of Darkness.
This would be a good movie for the youngsters, as it might inspire them to read the series much as I did. {BB}
