Harry is in for it already. Voldemort has plans ripening for restoration of his body. All he needs is a few key ingredients for his restoration spell. And now that we have read book 6 (Half-blood prince) we know about a major component in the spell.
Group29 Article about Harry Potter and The Half-Blood PrinceWhat is cut from the Goblet of Fire book (book 4)? The parts are too numerous to mention. But I will try some of the major ones.
* Ludo Bagman is out. Robert Hardy, one of my favorite character actors, plays minister for magic Cornelius Fudge. Fudge handles his part and doing the announcing at the Quidditch world cup.
* Winky and Dobby the house-elves are out. There is no S.P.E.W. sub-plot.
* The Dursleys do not make an appearance. The movie opens right at the Weasleys where they wake up and head for the portkey to the Quidditch world cup. Mrs. Weasley is mentioned, but not seen.
* Rita Skeeter is just an annoying reporter, not an unregistered animagus. She could probably have been hacked too. Unless you read the book, you probably would not have gotten the parts where she skewers Harry in the Daily Prophet.
* The Blast-ended skrewts are gone. The main obstacle in the maze are the shrubs themselves.
* Madame Maxine is a giantess, but the movie really does not go much into the Hagrid/Maxine relationship angst.
* We do not get to meet Mrs. Malfoy.
This movie is too scary for young children, but very enjoyable for adults. The Death Eaters, Hungarian Horntail and the lake squids (grindlylows?) could have made a horror movie by themselves. And Ralph Fiennes is very scary as an evil sorceror. Man oh man, Jason Isaacs and Tom Felton are really investing a lot of malevolent smirking into their characters of Lucius and Draco Malfoy. I found myself smiling at various scenes because they were so cleverly visualized and I enjoyed them so much. I welcomed the return of Moaning Myrtle (Shirley Henderson, reprising the role from
Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets.)
Some of the scenes with close-ups It would seem that Daniel Radcliff (Harry) was wearing glasses with no lenses, just frames. This is common practice in movies and TV I would assume, since scene lighting will create reflections in ordinary glass lenses. I think here were some scenes where he does wear lensed glasses. I was having a hard time telling, as it would change from cut to cut. In the bathtub for example, the suds drip down the lenses, but then there are suds on the frame on boths sides.
