    Old School [12]

    Movie Reviews

    I was led to believe that this was the Generation Y version of National Lampoons Animal House. If that is all Generation Y has to offer in rebuttal to the classic with John Belushi, then they have a lot of work ahead of them.

    Some of the scenes were shot on the campus at UCLA. Will Ferrell ends up hurling into the Class of 1989 fountain. I pity the foolish alumni who thought they were contibuting to something worthwhile.

    Ellen Pompeo looks good in this movie, compared to looking fresh from facelift surgery in the Greys Anatomy TV show. She actually smiles, compared to her sullenly melancholy character of Meredith Grey.

    I was also told that the Dan band covers of Lady and Total Eclipse of the heart were a great addition to the mystique of this movie. I was not sure if they were supposed to be parodies or just straight arrangements.

    That pretty much sums up the whole movie, It does not play straight or as a comedy. {BB}

    Fountain: Gift of the class of 1989, University of California, Los Angeles
    Bill Gregory and Wes Hironaka, under the direction of campus architect Charles Oakley. Completed in 1995. Top of Janss steps, between Powell Library and Royce Hall. Text from the plaque: This fountain is a gift of the class of 1989. "A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step." Lao-Tzu (604-531 B. C.)
