Lemony Snickets A Series of Unfortunate Events [25]

As with the Harry Potter series, I dismissed the Lemony Snicket series as a fantasy knockoff childrens book. Now that my daughter is reading at that level, I have gained an interest. This movie goes into the first three books.

Jim Carrey does a great job playing Uncle Olaf, a cruel actor who does a lot of overacting. The makeup, which won an Oscar is outstanding. Even I could not tell that it looked like Jim Carrey. These are his best masks since The Mask.

The two cars in the film lend a certain gothic feel to the movie. There is the 1960 Imperial driven by Count Olaf. There is also a Czech Tatra 603 with a tape player in the dashboard. The cars lends a certain surrealness to the movie.  {BB}
