    Lost In Space [22]

    Movie Reviews

I may not be the biggest "Lost in Space" fan - but I am a big Science Fiction fan. This movie was impressive. But I am getting tired of "a time-loop solves the problem of writing yourself into a corner" twist of the week. Yes time loop stories were very much part of the Lost in Space weekly episodes. But come on now, do we have to see it with EVERY science fiction movie that has come out recently? There must be a better way! On the whole, though - the movie was very faithful to the series and the acting was excellent. Gary Oldman is the most under-rated actor of our time. His portrayal of Dr. Smith was flawless. The mannerisms, the haughtiness, the "evil". William Hurt as the stogy Dr. John Robinson. Mimi Rogers rocked as the sexy, motherly, and strong Dr. Maureen Robinson. Both Matt LeBlanc and Heather Graham had real chemistry together as Don West and Judy Robinson. Lacey Chabert as Penny Robinson was a hoot. This cast really worked well together, better than some of the plot devices - space monkey?? Oh dear gwad! - bleah. I hope that they plan on making this a movie series, it could be a lot of fun to see one every two or three years. Especially if they let the actors grow up instead of replacing them. This movie is worthy of buying the video. [AB]
