Fun: Risk: Godstorm now available (July 2004)
    Games: Board Games
Wizards of the Coast (Now a Hasbro Division) has released Risk: Godstorm as a new version of the very popular board game Risk (Wikipedia article).

There is a cool online demo of the game on the WOC site as well as many preview articles. Now we just need a free weekend!

In Risk Godstorm, WOC combines its mythological and historical expertise with Hasbro's longtime best-selling military strategy board game Risk to create a hybrid game, which may have a broad appeal among board gaming hobbyists, mythology buffs, and those who enjoy role-playing games set in ancient times. (That's us!)

Articles in about.com and in Ogrecave.com talk about the July release. As of today, the game is not yet available on Amazon.com. But it is available elsewhere like at noblenight.com or gameoutfitter.com ($25).

Risk Godstorm, in which players can battle with deities from a range of Eastern and Western mythologies (including Norse, Greek, Celtic, Egyptian, and Babylonian) for control of the ancient world. The game abounds in richly detailed game pieces, including miracle cards, faith tokens, territory cards, and temples -- all of which help guide game play. The not-yet-lost continent of Atlantis offers a special strategic opportunity, as the continent and all its occupying forces can be wiped out with the draw of a single card. Risk Godstorm, which has an MSRP of $45.00, contains a lavishly illustrated, full color board map of the ancient Earth and a secondary board of the mythological underworld.

Hasbro initially announced this in March 2004, so the anticipation is building.
