Visual Studio: Unable to attach. The binding handle is invalid.
|
|
In Visual Studio 2005 you may encounter this error when starting an ASP.NET 2.0 debugging session. Particularly you might encounter it if you are using the ASP.NET development server local web server running a local filesystem web site project. This originally appeared in the Group29 tech support forum and has been a popular article.
Unable to attach. The binding handle is invalid.
Do you want to continue anyway?
Yes / No
To fix this error, go to Start Menu --> Administrative Tools --> Services
Select the Terminal Services service and make sure it is started.
I had changed the properties of this service to disabled.
Here is the Microsoft Knowledge Base article (Article ID 922276)
By default, the Terminal Services service is enabled in Microsoft
Windows XP. This is because Terminal Services provides for the
following:•Remote Desktop•Remote Assistance•Fast User Switching•Process listing•DCOM support
