    Batman Begins [16] -2005-

    Expectation Reviews
    This movie explores the origins of the Batman legend and the Dark Knight's emergence as a force for good in Gotham. Christian Bale stars as Bruce Wayne/Batman; Michael Caine as his trusted butler Alfred; Gary Oldman as Lieutenant James Gordon, a detective on the Gotham police force; Katie Holmes as a childhood friend of Wayne's; Liam Neeson as Wayne's mentor, Henri Ducard; Ken Watanabe as the villainous Ra's Al Ghul; and Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox, a former board member and sidelined employee of Wayne Enterprises. to be released June 2005

    We have already seen part of the back story of Batman in the 1989 Batman movie, where Jack Napier (AKA The Joker) killed Bruce Wayne's parents. This drew from Frank Miller's Dark Knight Graphic Novel Series (Now available in book form). The Batman TV show, starring Adam West, from the 1960's, is all a distant memory.

    Batophiles will undoubtedly enjoy the movie portrayal of the Batman back story. The traditional summer movie crowd will probably go. Although, Star Wars: Episode III Revenge Of The Sith will probably be crushing the competition at the box office.

    You will probably remember Christian Bale as the protagonist from Equilbrium in 2002 and as the American Psycho from 2000. Batman Begins will be yet more exposure. I predict a bright Anthony Perkins/Peter Cushing type movie role future for Mr. Bale.

    This movie will be tough to justify outside of matinee due to the 2005 expected blockbuster summer. If you can't swing it in the bargain theater, this will be an excellent DVD rental. {BB}
