Team America: World Police [10]
"George Clooney, Janeane Garafolo, Susan Sarandon, Tim Robbins, Sean Penn, Michael Moore, George W. Bush, John Kerry, Kim Jong Il.... will all HATE this movie!" and I think I will as well. These words opened up the movie trailer for Team America:World Police at the 2004 San Diego Comic Con.
This is supposed to be a marionette send-up of Jerry Bruckheimer's movies. So you can guarantee that a marionette car will overturn somewhere. The marionette characters are a take-off from the Thunderbirds TV series "supermarionation". I did an earlier expectation review of the Thunderbirds Live action movie, where I basically panned the Gerry Anderson supermarionation style. Jim Henson's Muppet characters are far more appealing to me; I like the happy-go-lucky Sesame Street Muppets as well as The Dark Crystal Skeksis.
Make no mistake, I find that Trey Parker and Matt Stone have written very funny material for the South Park kids. This will be another outlet for their parody talents. Hopefully, they will be able to exploit the expressions of the wooden, stiff and robotic appearance of the marionettes. And it also might be funny to have a foulmouthed Cartman voice in the movie.
Get this for your DVD collection if you have a place alongside Orgazmo, Baseketball, and The South Park movie. {BB}
