Michael Moore Hates America [15]
One thing that we have all heard, as the polictical campaigns draw to a close, is how shrill some of the voices sound on either side of the fence. Director Michael Wilson has been doing the radio circuit in the Twin Cities yesterday and today. He made a very good point when he used a sports analogy. At every sporting event there are people that cheer for either side. But there is always one 300 pound shirtless guy in a fright wig who seems posessed and takes his cheering to the next level. In Mr. Wilson's opinion, Michael Moore on one side and Ann Coulter on the other are the people with the face paint.
Another thing that I personally have noticed is that there are many people doing what I do: Reviewing this movie and Michael Moore's movies before they see them.
Hey! That's the Group29 schtick! Back Off!
In my case, the expectation review is based upon the hype and subject matter. It has nothing to do with the politics involved. So my feeling is that this movie is going to get A LOT of hype before the 2004 election. After the election is over, no matter who wins, this movie will only turn up in college courses.
One point on which might I disagree with the Director and Screenwriters, Michael Moore does not hate America so much as he hates himself. I am not a psychologist, so I could not analyze why this is the case. But writing a book slamming stupid (rich) white men, the very person he is, seems to smack of self loathing. I do understand that this tactic attracts much more attention, sort of like performance art.
Michael Moore, the subject of this movie, is very intelligent. All of his movies have plenty enough interesting and valuable material to stand on their own merits. Mr. Moore feels he needs to punch up the material to bring the point home. And that is the point of this movie, _Michael Moore Hates America_. This movie will not be pro-Bush or anti-Kerry. This movie is trying to be anti-Shrill and pro-JustTheFactsma'am. I cannot count on this movie having all the facts. One thing is important though, any time you can expose propaganda, you will have an audience. This movie will help answer the question "Is everything Michael Moore says true?" The answer will be, no. There are some truths. There is some truth stretching. There are some lies. There are some damned lies. And then there are even some statistics.
No matter what politcal stripe you wear, see this movie in conjunction with Fahrenheit 9/11. Michael Moore has a good point is all of his movies, but he does not need to bludgeon all of us. {BB}

Postscript: The election is over. George W. Bush defeated John Kerry and will be president for a second term.
We sure have not heard much from anyone connected with these movies since the election. I hereby consign these movies to oblivion...
