Harry Potter and The Order Of The Phoenix [27]

    Expectation Reviews
Harry goes up against the most horrible villain in the whole Harry Potter series: Dolores Umbridge. Imelda Staunton will portray this particularly henious, power-hungry, crazy, old witch. Harry may be able to defeat Voldemort repeatedly. But this wicked headmaster vexes him and all of Hogwarts.

I have been re-reading the book and listening to the audiobook by Jim Dale. I feel that Imelda will be a candidate for best supporting actress Oscar. She is going to be positively hideous.

The sadistic headmaster seemed to be a staple of literature about English public schools. Particularly, in the story by Roald Dahl, where he takes beatings to the backside from Repton headmaster and future archbishop of Canturbury, Geoffrey Fisher.

The Order of the Phoenix is a very long book. Quite a bit will be excised, as with the predecessor movie, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. I expect that quite of few of the scenes that are set in the same spot may be cut. We might get one DA practice. Gilderoy Lockhart does not appear in the credits, but the rumor has been that a St. Mungos scene has been filmed. Grandmother Longbottom also does not appear in the credits.

As with the Goblet of Fire itself, the Order of the Phoenix may actually get very little screen time. In the book, there is a lot of plot development that may run the movie quite long. It weighs in at two hours and 18 minutes, which is slightly shorter than Goblet of Fire. We get to spend a short interlude with the Dursleys again (they are in the credits). We also get to see the young mischief makers Messrs Mooney, Padfoot, Wormtail, and Prongs. The members of the order all make appearances, Gary Oldman (Sirius), Peter Thewlis (Lupin), and Brendan Gleesan (Moody). Natalia Tena makes an appearance as the multi hair-colored Tonks. And of course my personal favorite Robert Hardy as Cornelius Fudge, the minister for Magic.

This will be only my second theater outing of 2007, following The Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End.
