Antz [18]

This cartoon is not for kids. A horrifying ants vs. termites battle reminiscent of _Starship_Troopers_ makes this movie for grown ups only. This movie has more Sci-Fi than natural history. Steer the kids to _A_Bugs_Life_. Woody Allens humor is not for children anyway. Now, if you are a Woody Allen lover, this is probably his best film in a long time. In his next movie, I will picture him as an ant. Christopher Walken uses the voice he had from _Pulp_Fiction_. Dan Akroyd is great as the voice of the WASP.

This story in this movie would have been very interesting to citizens of any monarchy before Communism and World War I. It probably would have been censored. To those of us in the U.S., the socio-political structure of the ant colony is only amusing. The animation was utterly fantastic. All of the paintings and computer graphics were spectacular. The voice talent was top notch. Lets have more. I suggest that the next two animated movies should be a light hearted fantasy and then a dark brooding Science Fiction movie. With Antz you had both, and the comonation did not work well for me. [BB]
