    I gotta strongly dissagree with my esteemed colleagues. (Yeah, we are bickering over a single point. It's a strange world we live in.) The reworked "vision" completely works for me. I found myself in complete awe as the movie became a fuller experience with the minor transition scenes and the total make over given to Mos Eisley. The space port finally "looks" like one. Busseling, thriving and full of life. There are more than two or three storm troopers in every shot. The "new" beasts of burden and the tightness of the alleys gives a new feel to the area. More closed in and for me generates more anxiety and suspense before the Falcon blasts away. Yea, the canteena scence stands in stark contract to the improvements. It was not as improved as I would have liked, but the minor edits here, new aliens there, and now the exchange of gun fire between Greedo and Han - way kewl!

    I'd also like to add that this a movie that can only be appreciated at 75mm and THX surround sound. (You NEED to see these movies in Digital/Surround Sound you are missing the 3D sound enhancements that will blow you away.) I had forgotten so much minor detail that is imposible to pick out on the videos. I had fogotten that the droids were so dirty! That Darth is truely imposing in size and threat. That X-wings are the best fighter's this side of the Lensmen Universe.

    I looked for the "loud" blaster from Leia, and found it a more than a bit odd. Maybe she just shoots harder? {grin}. I loved the addition to the Solo/Storm Trooper chase scene. And I too wanted more from the Luke and Tantooine shots that orginally made the cutting room floor. But there is only so much one can do with $35 million. {smile} Interestingly they spent more to clean the three films up than it originally cost to make the first movie. The only gripe I have is that Chewbacca still doesn't get a medal. What is he, just a walking carpet? Anyhoo - it might not be the date movie of the year. But I got a chance to relive those saturdays at the matinee 20 years ago, and ain't that enough? {AB}
