High Plains Drifter [24]

Clint Eastwood's last two offerings have received accolades from the Academy (Mystic River, Million Dollar Baby) but for pure 'guytasy' I ask you, is there anything more primal male than the opening twenty-some odd minutes of 'High Plains Drifter'?

Clint rides slowly into Lago eyeballing every person he passes. He goes directly to the local saloon, orders a beer and some whiskey, a whole bottle of whiskey. After a brief verbal encounter with the local hoods he takes his bottle and swaggers across the street to the barber shop for a shave and hot bath. The local tough guys pay him a visit while he's in the chair. They mouth off. Clint blows all of them away, wipes the shave cream off and makes his way down the street to get a room at the hotel. On his way he is confronted by a good looking woman who, let's just say, sends him mixed signals. Clint tires of her act and drags her into a stable for a --- 'roll in the hay'.

So, in review: Clint wets his whistle, rids the town of some scum, gets a clean shave, and finds himself a new girlfriend, all, in less than half an hour. Oh, to be the Mayor of Carmel.
