Full Monty, The [25]

All I knew going in to this movie was that it was Oscar nominated. So that makes an expectation of 20 I would say. I enjoyed the movie and would recommend it for dates. As soon as the credits roll and the 1960s City of Sheffield promotional film plays, you know that there is going to be a comparision with then and now.

This movie could be set in any rust-belt-low-employement city in the world. The Yorkshire accents are thick and somewhat hard to understand if this is your first exposure. Some people might need subtitles. The budget did not look really high and the actors were not familiar. I still liked it enough to give it a high rating and good recommendation. I hope for this film to win the academy award. Maybe enough voters will pull for the underdog. Look for a high budget American remake in 5 years with John Travolta. [BB]
