Mars Attacks! [15]

Movie Reviews

I have said this before and I will say it again..."Tim Burton has a couple of screws loose, but that is what makes his movies so bizarre and interesting." Unfortunately for Mars Attacks! this movie doesn't know where it wants to go. Burton has so many characters that they start to get all mixed up in the movie goers mind. As usual, Jack Nicholson does a good jobn and President of the United States.

You have these strange looking aliens who like to roam around intheir underware on their spaceship. The talk like this..."ack ack!". In between all of this, Burton is spoofing every space movie possible. So just how do the humans defeat the aliens?......Let's just say that Grandma and her dedicated Grandson come up with an ingenious way to save the world. H.G. Wells eat your heart out.

As for Mars Attacks! this movie rates a 15 out of 29. Reason being that there are just too many characters to keep track of. Burton does a classic Stephen King thing in this movie....he builds a character up, then kills them. The special effects are pretty good, and the aliens look pretty funny. I think they used the same type of animation from James and the Giant Peach.

To sum up in one phrase: Truly Burtonesque! {MA}
