Mars Attacks! [23]

Tim Burton is a GENIUS! I swear that he must have read my mind shortly after I viewed that steaming pile of video tape, ID4. If you were dissapointed in ID4 as I was, then Mars Attacks! is the movie for you. With tongue firmly implanted in cheek, Mars Attacks! looks to go out and rip alien invasion movies to shreds. And it works wonderfully. The money spent on Jack Nicholson was well worth it, and I can imagine that it was well spent on everyone in the movie. There are some outstanding performances and scenes between many of the characters. (My personal favorite is between Pierce [007] Brosnan and Sarah Jessica [Trying to remember an outstanding role of hers] Parker.

The effects are great (Thumbs up to the ILM guys once again) and the explosion to laugh ratio is just right... If you are a serious SCI-FI nut, don't bother. Many of the people in the theater just didn't get it. I laughed so hard my sides hurt. Go see it if it sounds like your kind of outing. {SD}
