The BeatSC.com blogger who runs the Trojan Haters club pretty much summed it up. The UCLA Bruins football team is the scissors to the rock of the USC Trojans football team. UCLA has found itself in a very unlikely position. They are going to play for the PAC-12 championship against the Oregon Ducks in Oregon next week. USC cannot go because they are on probation. So, this game is meaningless in the title sense. Except for the fact that it the UCLA vs. USC game.
Rick Neuheisel will get fired if he does not beat USC and if he does not beat Oregon. If he wins at USC, or Oregon, and then goes to the Rose Bowl, he may hang on for a while longer.
The rumor is that UCLA is rolling out some special Adidas white uniforms. That seems inappropriate considering that a special NCAA rule change was made just so UCLA could wear the blue uniforms at the Coliseum for the USC game.
Game time note: USC is up 22-0 after a third touchdown. UCLA has some very interesting uniforms. The UCLA shoulder stripe is on everything BUT the shoulder. It is on the white helmet. It is on the side of the pants. It is on the elbow pads. It probably is on the shoes. Also, the blue color is a dark blue, which is reminiscent of the long time road uniforms of the Bruins. This is a very interesting uniform. The home version may be interesting too. Is UCLA going to abandon its longtime light blue shade and go back to the old school dark blue and gold?
