It was time again for our group to pick the 35 teams for the 2013 College football season bowl games. The rules are simple (until you get to the tiebreaker part...). Simply pick the winners of more of this year's College Football Bowl Games than any other contestant and walk away with a reward so priceless, you don't have to declare it on your income taxes!
The following is a list of this year's games - all 35 of them. Please submit your picks back to me, ideally before kickoff of the first game. Picks for games that have occurred before the picks are received are invalid.
Again, for this year's tiebreaker, I would like to use the ESPN method of assigning a "confidence number" to each game. Once you have picked all the games, assign each game a number from 1 to 35, USING EACH NUMBER ONCE AND ONLY ONCE. The higher the number, the more confident you are that your pick is correct. 35 means you might bet your house and/or grandchildren that your pick will win, whereas your 1-point pick is for the game where you've never heard of either team involved and might as well let your neighbor's cat make the pick (or you feel the need to be loyal to your team but just know they're going to get smeared (not a problem for Cal fans this year)...). A correct pick then scores points equal to the confidence number, and at the end, any tie is won by the player with the most points.
To keep it interesting and in order to place value on the bigger, later games, ALL BCS GAMES (Rose, Orange, Sugar, Fiesta, & BCS Championship) MUST BE GIVEN A CONFIDENCE NUMBER OF AT LEAST 25!!
For submitting your official picks, management asks that you please KEEP IT SIMPLE! I'm easily confused.
The ideal format for picks is Game, Team, Confidence Number, i.e.:
Star Wars Bowl: REBELLION (27)
Non-Ideal Format for picks:
Star Trek Bowl: I like the Klingons, I think they have the better defense in case of a tight, low scoring game. And besides, they have to win one sometime. I really want the Federation to win, though. The Klingons also have better uniforms. Too bad the Romulans are on probation; they'd mop the floor with either of these teams!
