Fun: Matchbox Superfast Series for 2005 - More Waves of Die Cast Toys !
    Matchbox Die Cast Cars
The Matchbox 35th Anniversary Superfast line of Die Cast Toys from Mattel seems to have been a hit for 2005. Seventy-Five models were released in seven waves. They were numbered 1-75 to throw back to the original Lesney Matchbox 1-75 superfast range, which was introduced in 1969. The models were supposed to appear at retail stores, but instead they have been selling by the case to collectors. And they are already commanding 5 times their suggested retail price.

According to information on the Matchbox Community Forums, and collector web sites, there will be a 2005 series of Matchbox Superfast models! I cannot wait!

It took until February 2005 to complete all 7 waves of 35th Anniversary Superfast cars. Collectors will refer to them as the 2004 series.

The initial 35th Anniversary series was available only in the United States. The models for waves A, B, and C were produced in lots of 10,000. Waves D, E, F and G were produced in lots of 15,000. The Honda Element (#44) was produced in two color variations. The Chevrolet Corvette was also produced in two variations, but with only 5,000 of each.

Now in 2005 there will be a regional US/ROW (Rest Of the World) split. Both regions will get the same numbered models. But the regions may have different colours. The US will receive 15,000 of each model, the ROW will get 7,500.

The numbers that appear here are called the Manufacturer's numbers.
