Samantha Brown is a star on the Travel Channel. My wife picked up her Passport to Great Weekends : Collection 1 DVD at the library. It has a show for Las Vagas, where my wife hopes to warm up for a few days during this endless dreary Spring of 2014.

The Group29 web site started with a bit of hubris, the premise that anyone could offer an opinion on movies and be a film critic. But the fact is that a true film critic has to be an accomplished writer, art lover, academic, and immerse oneself in the field.

Battlestar Galactica to begin its third season on the Sci-Fi Channel |

For the Group29 folks, the next best thing to Star Wars was
Universal Studios' Battlestar Galactica show on ABC-TV in 1978. A "long time ago, in a
galaxy far far away" morphed into a story that the human race came from the
stars thousands of years ago. Erich Von Dankien’s controversial 1968 book Chariots
of the Gods? may not have played well in scientific circles, but it made for
great science fiction. Build some nifty vessels and make the primary vessel an
aircraft carrier, and you have a winner for science fiction technophiles. The
Colonial Viper is my favorite space tactical fighter, even over the vaunted
X-Wing.
The Season Premiere on October 6th, 9pm, 8 Central in the United States. http://www.scifi.com/http://www.scifi.com/battlestar/ In Canada, the shows will be seen on the Spacecast networkhttp://www.spacecast.com/bsg/

All About Film Noir |

The filmsite.org web site has probably the best description of "Film Noir" (literally Film Black) on the web.
I recently had a chance to see Out Of the Past, the archtypical Film Noir. I gave it a favorable review. The cigarette smoking is a plot entity unto itself. I certainly would like to see the Saturday Night Live Parody from the 1987-1988 season, starring Robert Mitchum and Jane Greer.

While perusing the Internet Movie database comments about the 1977 animated "The Hobbit", I happened across This interesting comment.
It seems there was more to bringing the Hobbit to TV than meets the eye.
(The Group29 Review of The Hobbit is also not very appreciative of the effort.)
