    Maxtor 5000 LE Personal Storage 80 GB 7200 rpm hard drive [27]

    Product Reviews
    This external USB hard drive is as easy to use with a Windows 2000 or XP system as 1, 2, 3. Simply plug the hard drive power cord into the wall to start it spinning. Then plug in the USB cord to an available USB port on the system. Now find the connected drive letter, and start transferring files.

    I love this thing. I use it as a work archive by storing project documents and code on it. I can bring it out and save a whole team’s project from a network drive and bring it to the next project. This saves the hassle of transferring gigabytes of information over the network. Plus, I now have a backup snapshot of all the documents and code. It has been very reliable as it travels back and forth to different sites.

    There is no longer a need to buy an internal hard drive if you run out of storage space, just slap another external drive on and away you go. This drive could see use for storing family photos as more and more people use digital cameras. Or, if your personal music player fills up, you can dump off some songs to this drive. You can even rip ISOs of your favorite program or game CDs and store them on the hard drive for faster access instead of running with the CD in the drive.

    When USB became widely available on computers with Windows 98 in 1998, there still was a shortage of useful USB devices. Now there are all sorts of great USB storage system like pen drives and music players. Cost per megabyte is still dropping, so you can enter at any time and get a good deal. {BB}
